But, there’s another aspect to consider this time, and that was the benefit our Pre-Loved Fashion Sale had. So many people have been interested in knowing how it went, so now’s my chance to fill you in.

Let’s time travel together to about 6 weeks ago, when 30+ ladies decided to jump on my unique idea of selling their Pre-Loved garments in my “One Day Shop Takeover” event. That’s right, for one day only we cleared the shelves of all our clothing and made way for 500(ish) pieces of Pre-Loved fashion to hit the shelves.

The anticipation in the lead-up to the event was palpable, with people from near and far joining in as sellers, some even coming from as far as the Southern Highlands to participate. The buzz in the air was electric as we welcomed each vendor and excitedly received their offerings, carefully curating each garment into size groups in preparation for the big event the next day. Then, at 5:30pm on Saturday as the sun was setting, with my Boutique fully transformed, I turned off the lights and closed the door with eager anticipation for the following day.

Cue 7:30am Sunday morning, with crowds of people sipping coffee in the sun, eagerly waiting to enter, my team of 4 staff surveyed our space and after a little Group Hustle, turned up the tunes, threw the doors open and welcomed the Shoppers! On reflection, I think this is probably as close as Port has come to seeing the “Boxing Day Sales” at Myer on the telly… the Shop was alive with bargain hunters and the vibe was awesome!

It didn’t take long for the most sought after items to start flying out the door! Watching the flurry of buyers was so much fun, knowing that all of these fabulous garments were up until the day before, sitting in wardrobes, not being worn for one reason or another.

Our event definitely had an impact. There are so many reasons behind why most of us have clothing in our homes that we no longer reach for, but that we also don’t feel comfortable donating. While many women invest good money in good quality items, some also have a sentimental attachment to garments and don’t feel comfortable donating everything… whatever the case, selling an item frees up space not only in your wardrobe, but also your mind, allowing you to literally move on from that garment haunting you every time you open the wardrobe; not to mention the financial benefit of selling an item and pocketing the profits. It’s win/win.

So, are you interested in what sold? How much were people willing to pay for Pre-Loved clothing, what was the sell-through rate and what was the average number of garments people bought? It was a very interesting process for everyone involved, so let me share some of the insights with you.

We had a huge variety of items available on the day, with garments ranging in price from $10 right the way up to $500. Our top selling garments (both well known Brands) sold for $190, while the average garment price sat around $51. Most purchasers bought between 2 and 4 items each and we took nearly $8,000 in just over 4 hours. 100% of the Sale Proceeds went to the Vendors, with participants paying a small rental fee per item to participate, no commission taken on the sales.

To say this inaugural event was an overall success is an absolute understatement.

Now the most common question I’ve been asked since the event is, will we do it again?

The answer is a resounding YES! There are definitely more beautiful clothes out there waiting for new homes and I want to help you find them!

So, if you’re interested in joining in the fun and selling some of your Pre-Loved fashion in our next event, simply register your interest on our website and you’ll be among the very first to know!
